The Premise

Now that the movie The Secret is out, millions around the world have embraced the idea that we create our own realities with our thoughts and emotions.

The Intention Project takes this concept and goes a step further to suggest the following:

We all collectively co-create the world we live in through our thoughts and emotions.

With this broader view in mind, one realizes that one has a responsibility not just to oneself, but to everyone on the planet for creating a reality that can work for all of us.

No man or woman is an island. Each of us is not individually God, where we live in a vacuum and our thoughts only affect ourselves. Many who have worked with the principles of the "Law of Attraction" - the idea that we "attract" all of our experiences to us - have often become disappointed when they worked feverishly to manifest only the positive and have something negative happen to them.

We cannot individually stop all negative outside events from occurring. Why? Because we are constantly interacting with other people and their intentions. Sometimes, others have intentions that conflict with our own.

On an individual level, sometimes this means you can't get what you want from another person. You cannot sway the will of another who does not want to be swayed. This means, no matter how much you try to will someone to love you back, they won't if they don't want to.

On a group level, sometimes this means things in the world aren't exactly how you wish them to be. If the greater culture has intentions that conflict with your own, that can impact your life. This is because the power of group intention is greater than the power of individual intention.

If more people believe that war is the answer instead of peace, and they actively set their intention to create war, then this intention will override the positive intentions of a small minority of peace lovers who intend to end war.

You can wish an end to war all you want, but until we reach a "tipping point" with the group intention, where the force of the intention for peace is greater than the intention for war, there will still be war.

Yet, those who have a strong vision and a focused intention can and do have the ability to create more than someone without vision and with a weak intention.

What this means is that we have a lot of power. We can choose to create institutions, economic systems, and ways of living that either hurt others or help others. For example, if you choose to invest in businesses that hurt the environment, you are actively assisting in the co-creation of environmental devastation. If you purchase items that were made in a sweat shop, you are co-creating bad working conditions for innocent people in third world countries.

We must, therefore, take responsibility for our co-creation. Rather than focusing individually on "What's in it for me?" and solely on personal success, the Intention Project is asking you to look outside yourself and use your power of intention to make the world a better place for all.

The good news is this: The more people work to create a clear vision of a world of peace and prosperity for all, the more this strong group intention will become reality. Eventually, if the group intention is strong enough, it can literally change the world.
